Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

Ralia (“Ralia,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates a directory that connects dancers with dance teachers and class organizers. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the Ralia website and related services (the “Service”).

We are currently based and launching in the United States, with plans to expand into Europe and other regions over time. This policy is written to cover users wherever they are, including specific sections for EU/UK and US state privacy rights below.

1. Who We Are

Ralia is the operator of the Service. For any question about this policy or your data, contact us at hello@ralia.co.uk.

2. What Data We Collect

Account and profile data. When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. Depending on your account type, we also collect information you choose to add:

  • Teacher/organizer profiles: bio, contact details, photos, videos, social links, and class listing details (schedules, prices, locations, descriptions).
  • Dancer profiles: name, saved/favorited listings, and, where available, reviews or ratings you post.

Communications data. If you contact us (for example, by email), we keep a record of that correspondence.

Marketing preferences. If you opt in to our newsletter or marketing emails, we record your email address and your subscription status.

Server and usage logs. Like most websites, our servers automatically log standard technical data for security and performance monitoring, including IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and timestamps.

Cookies. See Section 6 below.

We do not knowingly collect any special category data (such as health information) beyond what you voluntarily choose to include in free-text fields like a bio or listing description, and we ask that you avoid including sensitive information there.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • operate the directory, including displaying public listings and profiles to dancers;
  • send transactional emails, such as account confirmation, password resets, and important service notices;
  • send marketing or newsletter emails, but only if you have opted in (you can unsubscribe at any time; see Section 10);
  • respond to your questions and support requests;
  • maintain the security, integrity, and performance of the Service, including detecting and preventing fraud or abuse;
  • comply with our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. Legal Bases for Processing (EU/UK Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR / UK GDPR to process your data:

  • Contract: to create your account and provide the Service you’ve requested (e.g., displaying your listing).
  • Consent: for marketing emails and any optional features that require your opt-in (e.g., publicly displaying your contact details).
  • Legitimate interests: to secure the Service, prevent fraud, and improve our product, balanced against your rights and interests.
  • Legal obligation: where we need to retain or disclose data to comply with the law.

5. Who Can See Your Information

Public profile information. Profile information you mark as public, including your name, bio, class listings, photos, videos, and social links, is visible to anyone who visits your listing page.

Contact details. Your email and phone number are only shown publicly if you explicitly opt in when editing your profile. Otherwise, they are kept private and used only for account and service purposes.

Reviews. If you post a review or rating, your name and review content may be displayed publicly alongside the listing you reviewed.

Service providers. We share data with the third-party service providers described in Section 7, who process it on our behalf and under our instructions.

Legal and safety disclosures. We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or governmental request, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Ralia, our users, or the public.

Business transfers. If Ralia is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and any choices you may have.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We currently use a single, strictly necessary session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

We may in the future use privacy-focused, aggregate analytics tools to understand how the Service is used and improve it. If we do, we will update this policy and, where required by applicable law (for example, for EU/UK visitors), request your consent before setting any non-essential cookie.

7. Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following third-party providers to operate the Service, each of which processes data on our behalf and maintains its own privacy policy:

  • Supabase: database hosting and authentication.
  • Mapbox: address autocomplete and map display.
  • Vercel: website hosting and infrastructure.

We may add or change service providers from time to time as the Service evolves; any new provider handling personal data will be held to privacy and security standards consistent with this policy.

8. International Data Transfers

We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process and store data in the United States or other countries. If you are located outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries that may have different data protection laws than your own.

As we expand into Europe and other regions, where we transfer personal data from the EEA, UK, or other jurisdictions with data transfer restrictions, we will put appropriate safeguards in place (such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent legal mechanism) as required by applicable law.

9. Data Retention

You can update or delete your account and listings at any time from your dashboard. To request full data deletion, email us at hello@ralia.co.uk.

  • We aim to process deletion requests within 30 days.
  • After deletion, residual copies may remain in encrypted backups for up to 90 days, after which they are purged.
  • We may retain limited information beyond deletion where necessary to comply with a legal obligation, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements (for example, records required for tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes), kept only as long as necessary for that purpose.

10. Marketing Communications

If you opt in to receive our newsletter or marketing emails, you can unsubscribe at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in every marketing email, or by emailing hello@ralia.co.uk. Opting out of marketing emails does not affect transactional emails necessary to operate your account (such as password resets or booking-related notices).

11. Your Privacy Rights

All users. Regardless of location, you can access and update most of your information directly from your account dashboard, and you can request deletion of your account and data at any time (Section 9).

If you are in the EU, UK, or EEA. You have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • erase your data (“right to be forgotten”);
  • restrict or object to certain processing, including processing based on legitimate interests;
  • data portability: receive your data in a structured, commonly used format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent (this won’t affect processing that occurred before withdrawal);
  • lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@ralia.co.uk.

If you are a US resident. Depending on your state of residence, you may have rights similar to the following under laws such as the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA), and comparable laws in other states:

  • the right to confirm whether we process your personal data and to access it;
  • the right to correct inaccuracies;
  • the right to delete personal data we hold about you;
  • the right to a portable copy of your data;
  • the right to opt out of the sale of personal data, targeted advertising, and profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects (Ralia does not currently engage in any of these practices);
  • the right to not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@ralia.co.uk. We will verify your request using the information associated with your account before acting on it.

12. Children's Privacy

Ralia is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Account holders must be at least 16 years old, consistent with our Terms & Conditions. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at hello@ralia.co.uk.

13. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your personal information, including relying on our service providers’ security practices (e.g., encryption in transit). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (such as an email or an in-app notice). Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
